Event - Send RSVP endpoint issues 2 emails

Hello,

when sending a reply for an event invitation it always sends 2 emails to the event organizer. It does not matter if the event organizer is sending the event from a gmail or outlook account.

When viewing the two mails in the e.g. outlook of the organizer then 1 mails is displayed with the calendar preview with the event known by the outlook user. Like this

The second mail has as subject “Accepted: ” with an .ics file attached, but no preview of the event.

How can we prevent the second mail with only .ics file to not be sent at all?

Hello,

I believe this is related to the Microsoft limitation outlined here:

Microsoft ignores the notify_participants field and always sends email notifications about changes to events.

Please let me know if you think this is different.

Many thanks,

Hello Samuel,

I am aware about the limitation of the flag on event creation/update endpoints, but in this case the event was neither created or updated via nylas (organizer of the event is completely unrelated to nylas), but simply a send-RSVP endpoint call from an attendee and the send-RSVP does not have that flag per docs/SDK.

If this is still related to each other in the nylas backend: It would be nice if nylas would not send the second mail at all if the connected provider is Outlook, because according to the docs Microsoft will always send it anyway by themselves so there would be no need for nylas for the separate mail or am I missing something here?

Thanks,

Marco
