Nylas Email API returned "Error: provider API unavailable" but sent email 3 times

Hi!

My system tried to send an email out via the Typescript API’s nylas.messages.send function at 10:25:44 am today, and we got a “Error: provider API unavailable” error in response. However, Nylas actually sent 3 duplicates of this email to the customer.

Is this a known issue? Wondering if this is a hiccup that is known to happen from time to time, or if I am missing a simple way to prevent this from happening.

Thanks all!

Any solution or findings @adeesha. We also got the same issue.

Thanks for bringing this up. We have been tracking an issue with Google grants where sometimes the Gmail API returns that error you saw when we try to send a message, but the Gmail API sends the message out anyway. Our system passes back the error code and message from Gmail API.

We raised this with Google’s Support team for further investigation and put it on our status page here: Nylas v3 Status - Elevated 504 Errors When Sending Messages via Google

While we have not received any updates from Google, we have seen error rates returning to normal today. It appears they have recently fixed something on their side. We are continuing to monitor to see if the errors return.

Feel free to follow or subscribe to that status page I linked to learn of further updates.

Thanks for following up - this is very helpful context. Is there a way to see a list of known issues such as this one, so I could review the list before I submit a new request on this portal?
