Sending draft from another email address

Is it possible to create a draft and populate the “from” field with an email alias that is connected to the same nylas grant id? I noticed that it is possible to send a message and populate the “from”, but this is not the case when creating a draft.

We send drafts instead of messages to avoid sending duplicate emails if we have to retry an operation.

Hello from the Nylas team!

Yes, you can send drafts or messages with different from fields as long as they’re recognized Aliases by the Email Provider. Depending on the configuration and permissions each mailbox has for Sending it’s possible to do.

We have an article that outlines this situation:

In general, if this is possible to to using the Email Client it is possible to do using Nylas.

If your Email Provider doesn’t allow you to send using Aliases, the best alternative is to set your desired email address as the Primary Address and authenticate with Nylas afterwards. This way, only this Address will be used on the from field.
